Thank You For Visiting

Photography and Church Denomination

Bridal Shoot Photography | Wedding Decor Charlotte NC

This evening we were planning on how to shoot an upcoming wedding with one of our photographers on staff. As we discussed ideas and shots we intended on taking we were reminded the wedding ceremony will take place at a denomination of church that is known for restrictions on photographers. The wedding will be at an Episcopal church in North Carolina. As a wedding photographer we frequently move around ceremony locations seeking the best possible shot regardless if it is a hotel, church, or park. Episcopal churches thou beautiful on the inside and outside typically are not friendly for the creative wedding photographer this is because of the many restrictions they have. They require that the photographer is not permitted to use a flash and cannot move. They are not alone in the types of restrictions they place on wedding photographers because a lot of almost all Catholic churches are the same and Presbyterian churches are just as restrictive. In addition some non-denominational churches have the same restrictions in their rules. We will touch on this more in depth later in the week but some ask why this would be a problem. For us it is because we love to give brides the best possible service and that almost always involves creativity and movement when taking wedding photos. Later in the week we will discuss was to work around such restrictions in a manner that would be pleasing to a bride in these circumstances.
